MartinLogan - Monolith IIIIt all
began with this reference speaker project. Since its emergence in
1982, the Monolith has represented the culmination of reference
level ML electrostatic technology and exhaustive crossover and
dynamic driver research, providing dynamics, precision and bandwidth
comparable at any price range.
This system combines lush wood grain and black satin composite
finishes into a strikingly beautiful cabinet, as elegant to behold
as its sound reproduction is to experience.
While the original Monolith III's were impressive, this set is
now totally customized:
These units now run full active crossovers provided by
DBX DriveRack 4800 speaker processors.
In 2006, the ESL Panels were also replaced with factory fresh units,
and they also feature updated woofers, using
Peerless 830669
drivers.
The updated woofers allow the unit to have much better mid-bass
integration and since the driver does not need to cover ultra-low
frequencies, it performs much better in the critical mid-bass
region.
Performance is now outstanding, so much so, I'm not tempted by
newer models. Well, maybe a pair of
CLX's
would ;-)
